About John Taylor
I’m a REALTOR® with In Depth Realty, helping people buy and sell condos, townhomes, and homes across the Salt Lake Valley. My whole career has been in real estate finance, and I bring that same discipline to every transaction: clear numbers, honest advice, and no surprises at closing.
My Background
- CFO of BBH Group, a multifamily development company, where I lead accounting and finance.
- Controller at Helu, a multifamily development company, preparing and presenting monthly financials for the company and reviewing the books for each of its properties.
- Senior Accountant at Lotus Company, a Salt Lake City multifamily development company.
- Education: Master’s in Real Estate Development and Master’s in Finance from the University of Utah’s David Eccles School of Business, and a Bachelor’s in Accounting from BYU–Hawaii.
- U.S. Census Bureau, 2020 census: trained more than 150 people and supervised a field team of 12.
What That Means for You
- If you’re buying a condo, I read HOA budgets and reserve studies the way an accountant does, and I’m involved in my own HOA’s budgeting. Start with a free HOA check.
- If you’re buying new construction, I’ve spent my career in accounting and finance at multifamily development companies, so I know how new projects are budgeted, financed, and priced, and where builders tend to have room to negotiate. See new condo projects.
- If you’re an investor, I’ll run the numbers with you (rent, HOA dues, financing, and long-term costs) so you find an investment that actually works.
- If you’re a homebuyer or homeowner, my background helps your transaction run smoothly and work financially. I know the programs that could help, even if you aren’t a low-income or first-time buyer.
- If you’re selling, you’ll get a clear estimate of what you’ll net before you list, and pricing based on real comparable sales.
- If you prefer Spanish, I can work with you in Spanish from the first conversation to closing. Hablo español.
My Own Condo Story
My wife and I live in a condo near downtown Salt Lake City, and we love being close to work, City Creek, and everything downtown has to offer. When we bought, we went without an agent to save on the fee, so I understand wanting every dollar to count. We used a low-down-payment loan program and chose a lower-priced unit on purpose so we could afford a shorter-term mortgage.
That experience, plus years of reading financial statements for real estate companies, is why I focus on the numbers with every client, and why I’m upfront about what my help costs.
